We’re big fans of Noodoll, both for their adorable plushies and for their super fun Instagram full of hilarious photos and videos. They just launched a new collection and I want pretty much everything.

It’s hard for me to resist collecting all the fruit and vegetables mini plush (I have a pear and carrot so far). I think my favourite of the newbies is Ricebaba, the chubby aubergine/eggplant. I love the star cheeks and perfectly arranged hairline.

But then again, how cute is Riceccoli, a broccoli with a fabulous head of hair?

You don’t often see a kawaii acorn so everyone who wishes it would stay autumn all year long would be happy to receive Riceacorn.

There’s also some larger plush cushions including 2 colours of crab called Ricesurimi and Ricesushi. They look so cuddly.

If you’ve got any new babies to buy for, there’s lots of gift ideas to choose from including fluffy playmats, musical mobiles and night lights.

It’s almost April and one thing I am looking forward to enormously is Rilakkuma’s first TV show on Netflix!

Here’s the latest official trailer, which I have watched far too many times. Unlike the Aggretsuko anime, this has also has an English voice cast so you won’t need to use subtitles, though I hope they offer the Japanese version too.

Rilakkuma and Kaoru will tell the story of how Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma came to live in the home of Kaoru – an office worker with a boring life – and her pet chick Kiiroitori. It looks like their adventures will be very low key and relaxing – and totally adorable, due to the stop motion animation.

As well as the trailer, San-X have shared some behind the scenes photos of the animation process. I can’t get over all the details – the characters look so cute and fuzzy and their home so cosy.

Rilakkuma and Kaoru will be available to watch on Netflix worldwide from April 19th. You can sign up here with a free trial available for new users. Are you excited?

Easter is coming up fast and we haven’t even had a look at how all the Sanrio characters are celebrating! There’s still time to buy adorable plush, stationery and more.

Sanrio Japan have a big range of fluffy pastel coloured bunny and egg products. This banner just screams kawaii Easter and I kind of want a little bunny outfit for myself.

There’s a few styles and sizes of Easter plushies including those from the illustrated banner. I especially love the sitting bunnies at the bottom but there’s also some useful plush pouches.

It’s the stationery I really want though! There’s a set for each character with 3 different designs of sticky notes in an Easter theme. They’re all super cute but Pompompurin is always my personal fave.

Sanrio USA has a few Easter products including a Hello Kitty Easter basket! If you’re planning on taking up some Easter Bunny duties, this would be the cutest way to deliver your eggs.

Gudetama is always good for Easter as one of the only kawaii egg characters around. This official t-shirt is available from Amazon USA in lots of colours and sizes.

Outside the USA & Japan, there’s not so much to choose from but ARTBOX (UK) have a few Easter plush charms including Kiki & Lala in fluffy bunny kigurumi.

I’m stretching the theme a bit here but I can’t not show you this adorable My Melody x Maison de Julietta collaboration at Kawaii Panda (EU). The main characters are a bunny and lamb so it does just about fit and I love the pastel sweets theme. Has she always had a hedgehog friend – it’s so cute!

The Rilakkuma and Kaoru animation series is coming up on Netflix this Friday and we’re very excited! We’ll have a couple of Rilakkuma-themed posts this week and a little giveaway over the Easter weekend.

I also wanted to highlight this article in The Japan Times today. Bear essentials: A forthcoming animated series celebrates Rilakkuma’s lackadaisical ethos in all its glory.

It’s a nice overview of Rilakkuma’s origins and history and has lots of details about the show from the director. You might spot a couple of quotes from me too!

Whether you’re a long time fan of the lazy bear – and his friends Korilakkuma, Kiiroitori and Kogumachan – or just discovered them, here’s some of our favourite shops to buy the cutest official Rilakkuma products. All these shops ship internationally.

If you love plushies, JapanLA (USA) have all the characters in different sizes and styles for every budget. There’s little keychains at $9 and a giant size for $45! They’ve also collaborated with San-x to create their own range of clothing and enamel pins that you can’t get anywhere else. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you can even visit the store in person.

ARTBOX (UK) also have a store (in London) as well as an online shop. They stock some great homeware and plushies but I’m especially in love with this big squishy bag, available with both Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma.

One of my favourite things to collect is Re-ment miniatures and the Rilakkuma ones are always adorable. Modes4u (HK) have a big range including the newest Happy Little Book series which has tiny little rooms set inside books! Modes4u also have lots of stationery and plush including some older designs that you might have missed out on, and many things are on sale.

For rare plush that’s hard to find outside Japan, have a look at Rilakkuma Shop (Singapore). They stock some long-sold-out and limited edition plushies including this sweet Korilakkuma cat basket plush set.

The biggest range of Rilakkuma products are in the official San-x online store but they don’t ship outside Japan. If you don’t want to use a forwarding service, many items can also be found on AmiAmi (Japan). You do need to be quick as order periods are often limited but they’ll hold items from different orders and ship them in one package. At the moment, they’ve got all the new Always Together plush outfits including a bunny outfit and sailor suit.

In honor of the premiere of Rilakkuma and Kaoru on Netflix, you may want to get to crafting something of the titular character. There are so many cute DIYs and recipes out there that it’s hard to narrow down, but here are just a few of my favorites!

For a cute little Polly Pocket-style keepsake, you could try making heekkong’s (extra mini) miniature Rilakkuma ball using some clay and a DIY ornament case. The tutorial is in Korean but the videos are shot thoroughly so that it’s still pretty easy to understand everything.

If you have any dolls that are Rilakkuma lovers, maynterest channel has a really cute video that shows you how to make a miniature Rilakkuma dollhouse bedroom. This one is super helpful if you like the idea but don’t have any Rilakkuma Re-Ment sets to use!

Binc Bonc’s tutorial for a needle felted Rilakkuma is also adorable and conveniently has a floaty ring, just in time for summer! The difficulty level is only 2 of 5 stars, so if you’re a beginner in needle felting this is a good option!

Having a watch party for the show and in need of some snack ideas? Whether for others or just yourself, these Rilakkuma ‘shake shake’ cookies by Two Bites are sure to impress anyone. They’re almost too cool to eat!

Flying Mio’s amigurumi Rilakkuma is a classic tutorial to follow for any crocheters out there. She had the great idea of using the completed plush for a suitcase zipper pull, but it’d be cute as a bag charm, key chain, or regular mini plush.

The Moomins have been around since the 1940s but these Finnish characters are finding lots of new fans with the recent Moominvalley TV series. It’s got an all-star cast and can be watched on Sky or NowTV in the UK as well as in Finland, Sweden & Japan, with more countries coming soon.

I still love seeing all the new Re-Ment miniatures, though I’ve been trying not to buy many as they’re too addictive. Here’s a few recent releases I love featuring some of our favourite kawaii characters. Click the images to view full size and see all the details!

There are so many cute Sumikko Gurashi sets that it was hard to choose just one but I’m going for Sumikko Gurashi Bedroom. It has 8 character sets that would be cute on their own but can also be stacked up in various arrangements. I especially love the little handmade plush toys of themselves!

There’s a similar stackable theme to the Pokemon Forest sets which have tree sections that can be displayed as s single stump or a whole tree. This could have been pretty basic but they’ve made each character use the tree in a different way, like Mimikyu hiding in a hole and Eevee in a basket. Looks like the characters can be moved to any branch too.

I don’t normally go for Snoopy but I’m in love with this Little Lunchbox Museum range. It’s like Polly Pocket with tiny displays that sit inside a cute retro-style lunchbox. The diner and Christmas sets are especially fun.

Terrariums are a popular Re-ment option at the moment and the new Sanrio Terrariums are very cute and colourful. They’ve chosen classic characters like Hello Kitty and Tuxedosam with a design that looks like snow globes – great for desk decorations.

If you wish your whole home could be Rilakkuma-themed then you’ll love the Rilakkuma Wash Room series. Each tiny home set features a few matching items including a washing machine, dressing table and washing line with Rilakkuma’s outfit! I really want that iron and hairdryer in human size.

Over the weekend my boyfriend and I saw Detective Pikachu. I am not usually an opening weekend type of gal but had to go see this movie after seeing the trailer. I gotta say it was really cute! You do not have to be a Pokemon pro (I am not) to enjoy the story or the characters in the movie. It is made beautifully with lush landscapes and characters that pop on film.

Here are a few Pokemon picks to get you into the spirit, and look out for more soon!

Build-A-Bear (USA / UK) released two new Pokemon characters that you can build and dress up.

My favorite is Psyduck – a classic – but Snubbull is awfully cute. Both have cameos in the movie!

Sharodactyl (USA) has plenty of cute pins, prints and stickers featuring her pastel take on Pokemon characters that will have you loading up your cart.

If you are looking for a fun DIY weekend project how about a giant Snorlax dog (in my case cat) bed! Seamstressed has a fun tutorial up using soft and cozy fleece.

It’s that time again – the 34th annual Sanrio Character Ranking Contest!

If you’re new to this, every year Sanrio ask the public to vote for their favourite character so we can see who’s the most popular. A few years ago, they opened it up to international fans and it’s always fun to see who comes out on top.

Cinnamoroll has been the winner for the last few years but newer characters like Gudetama and Aggretsuko will be hoping to move further up the ranks, while I will forever be rooting for eternal runner-up Pompompurin.

This year, there are 80 characters to choose from – ranging from well-known favourites like Hello Kitty and Gudetama to some very obscure characters like Darkgrapeman and The Vaudeville Duo.

You only get one vote so use it wisely! The contest ends next weekend and the results will be shared on social media a few weeks later.

The Detective Pikachu movie has seemed like a massive April Fools joke to me since it was first announced – it’s just all too weird looking and not cute at all. It took this dancing video to make me start to love the movie version and now I have to admit he’s pretty adorable. MissMuffcake found you some Pokemon picks last week but here’s where to find Detective Pikachu himself. All sites below ship internationally.

Let’s start with the plushies! This life size one really captures the cuteness of Pikachu while still being accurate to the movie style. You can find it on a few Japanese sites including Amazon Japan.

If you’re in the USA, the official Pokemon Center shop has a ton of Detective Pikachu merch including plush, t-shirts and patches. I love this little plush keychain.

Japan Stuffs is the place to go for all the Japanese Pokemon Center exclusives, which include socks, bags, stickers and these towels in two sizes.

You’ll also find some fun Detective Pikachu plush, bags and pouches at PlayAsia including this fuzzy pencil case.

And if you’re still not convinced by fuzzy movie Pikachu, the official amiibo figure is much more like classic Pikachu but still with his cute hat. It’s available all over the place including Amazon (UK / USA)

Good news for Aggretsuko fans as the cute office lady red panda with a love for metal karaoke will be back on Netflix next month.

Season 2 will be available worldwide on June 14th. From the trailer and poster, it looks like it will introduce some new characters and there will no doubt be some more workplace drama to build up Aggretsuko’s rage.

To get yourself ready, here’s a look at some fun new products. Despite her worldwide fame, there’s still not much outside the USA, sorry.

Kidrobot (USA) are really bringing their A game with this vibrating plush! Give her a hug or a round of applause and she’ll get herself into a screaming rage.

They’ve also got some new blind box keychains featuring Aggretsuko and some of the cast (though where are the rest of her friends?)

Not to be outdone, Sanrio USA have come up with a reversible plush, so you can change it to match your mood. There’s some new stationery and stickers too.

And there are some new Funko Pop vinyl figures to collect. Most are widely available online and in stores but 2 are exclusive to Target including a super sized Aggretsuko.

While Aggretsuko merchandise can be few and far between depending on your country, it seems that Aggretsuko DIYs and kits are even more sparse! But in honor of the release of the Aggretsuko anime’s second season on Netflix today, I was determined to uncover all the cute DIYs I could find!

The Sanrio blog only has one Aggretsuko tutorial featured so far—a super cute how-to on making an Aggretsuko-themed bento box by Love at First Bento. A great thing about this tutorial is that it doesn’t require any special bento supplies like cutters.

If you like to crochet, Paper and Landscapes on YouTube has an ultra adorable tutorial on how to make a Retsuko amigurumi plush doll. She’s also generously included a link in the description to the free pattern!

Rabbit in Rose has a great DIY video that shows you how to make a double-sided Aggretsuko decorative pillow. I love that it has both faces so that you can display it according to your mood…and that it also happens to be the perfect size to use while binge-watching the entire second season of the anime!

If you’re anywhere near Los Angeles this month, make sure to visit this amazing new Hello Kitty exhibition to celebrate her 45th anniversary.

The special group exhibition features 100 artists from all over the globe, each creating their own unique interpretation of Hello Kitty – and some of her friends too.

It includes lots of SCK favourites like Simone Legno of tokidoki, TADO, Naoshi, Paul Frank and Kozyndan.

It’s open now until the 3rd of August at Corey Helford Gallery, Los Angeles, CA.

If you can’t be there in person, Sanrio are sharing previews of the artwork on Twitter and some of the artwork will be available to buy online later.

Kiiroitori doesn’t get a lot of attention, compared to his bear friends but now he’s fulfilled his dream and opened a muffin cafe! As always, there’s a fun video.

You can’t actually buy these cakes in real life but they’re all over a cute range of plush, stationery, bags and accessories.

My favourite item has to be this Rilakkuma pineapple muffin plush – so kawaii!

Most things will be available from Sunday – to be sure of getting them, you’ll need to order from San-X Japan using a forwarding service like Tenso. Some items may be available after on sites like Amazon Japan, Mary Bear (USA), Mira Plush (Hong Kong), Rilakkuma Shop (Singapore) and ShopKawaii.com (USA).

If you’re lucky enough to be in Japan this summer, don’t miss the Rilakkuma & Kaoru exhibition in Tokyo and Osaka. Not only do you get to see some of the models used in the show and take your photo in a recreation of their home, but there’s exclusive merchandise.

At Super Cute Kawaii we are quite fond of Molang. So when I heard that Netflix released season 1 of Molang, I had to check it out!

This trailer captures well what the series is all about: a lighthearted anime about the adventures of Molang and his chick friend Piu Piu. Each episode is only about 4 minutes long – which makes is suitable for bingewatching ;) – and contains no ‘real’ language. Just like Rilakkuma, Molang and his friends speak their own language. This makes the show extra cute.

The first season has 52 short episodes, covering a whole year of adventures. From finding themselves stuck in a lifeboat to the struggles of outdoor camping, Molang and Piu Piu experience unexpected situations.

The show is fun to watch – it isn’t just childish humour, it did actually made me laugh. The graphics and animations are well done too. So if you’re looking for a nice and cute show to lift your spirits, Molang might be it.

Let’s start with the most exciting news as the Pusheen x ARTBOX Cafe opens its doors this Sunday! This adorable new cafe in Brighton will serving up cute Pusheen-themed treats including ice cream sundaes, with vegan options available too. There will also be a shop, where UK Pusheen fans will be able to buy items that are currently exclusive to The Pusheen Shop in the USA.

The cafe is permanent but characters will rotate so if you love Pusheen, try and organise a visit before it ends. If you can’t make it, SCK will be there so keep an eye on our Instagram this weekend. I’m sure there will be more exciting announcements this week so follow the ARTBOX Cafe on Instagram or Facebook.

Pusheen Surprise Plush

The newest Pusheen surprise plush blind boxes are available now with a Lazy Summer theme. The whole gang are ready for the beach with inflatables and look at Pip the shark! Even Sloth seems to be joining the fun, if I read the mystery plush silhouette correctly. We love Pusheen and character cafes at Super Cute Kawaii so I wasn’t going to miss the opening day of the first Pusheen cafe in the UK at the new ARTBOX Cafe in Brighton.

The shop exterior is just stunning, painted in gorgeous pastel colours with Pusheens everywhere. The cafe is upstairs though there is a table downstairs for disabled visitors. The cafe is beautifully decorated with giant Pusheen murals on the walls and the same mint and baby pink colour scheme as the exterior. 

The menu had a range of sundaes and waffles to choose from including many with vegan options. I decided to get the Pastel UFO Sundae and the Mallow Dream Waffle as they both looked so cute and colourful. 

The staff were pretty busy dealing with all the orders but I was happy to wait and have a good look around the cafe. I shared a table with lovely Pusheen fan Laura who was there for an early birthday treat with her mum and chatting with her helped pass the time. 

When the food came it was definitely worth the wait! Everything looked amazing and tasted so good. The waffle was divine with lots of white chocolate sauce and pretty sprinkles topped with candy floss and the sorbets were very refreshing.

I had to try them both but was a bit too much food just for me so best to choose one item or share a few different things with friends. I’m hoping to go back soon to try more! I also had the watermelon drink which was delicious and came with a free coaster. 

I then had a quick look around the shop but it was so packed it was difficult to see everything. The shop is pretty small but had lots of exclusive items from The Pusheen Shop in the USA.

I bought a few things including an adorable shirt and the exclusive Pusheen Brighton enamel pin. 

There is also an ice cream bar with lots of options and cute Pusheen themed cups and cones for people who want a kawaii treat but don’t want to sit down in the cafe. 

I had such a wonderful experience at the ARTBOX Cafe and have to give a big shout out to the staff who managed to keep smiling even though they were rushed off their feet. They all looked so cute in their outfits and were very friendly and helpful. 

They definitely had a few teething problems which is to be expected on opening day but it didn’t detract from my experience at all. I’m looking forward to going back soon when it’s a bit quieter to have a proper look round the shop and maybe try one of those amazing ice creams!
