Cooking with Dog is a super cute Japanese YouTube channel that has been around for quite some time. Francis the dog will sit (or sleep) next to Chef, watching her while she cooks. He will narrate the episode in English (with an accent ;)), making it easier for everyone to understand the recipes. Sadly Francis is no longer with us, but the YouTube channel is still going strong.

The show teaches you how to prepare traditional Japanese dishes, such as bento and gyoza in a simple way. Chef shows everything she does step-by-step. This way you can pick up some cooking skills as well, for instance how to easily chop vegetables.

Francis also makes his appearance on cute cookware. You can find a nice range of Cooking with Dog items at Bento & Co and an apron at Otaku Mode.

Joanna Zhou AKA Maqaroon is responsible for the branding, logo and illustrations of Francis the poodle chef ^_^. You might want to check out her DIY for a needle felt version of Francis!

Hello Kitty has been around since the 1970s and it would be easy for everyone to get bored of her by now. Luckily, she has great taste in collaborations that keep her cool and cute for every new year.

The most unexpected collaboration so far has to be Hello Kitty x Jaws! Who knew Jaws could be so kawaii with a red bow? This collaboration is exclusive to Universal Studios Orlando so there aren’t many details available yet. eBay has a few things including towels, posters, coasters and even a plush Hello Kitty in a Jaws costume. tokidoki collaborations are always adorable and the latest one is super sweet! With candy, desserts and pastel colours, the Sweets collection includes bags, mugs, t-shirts and stationery.

London fashion label Lazy Oaf have a reputation for bright colours and weird designs that are perfect for standing out from the crowd. Their Hello Kitty collection is already selling fast but you can still pick up some fun pieces. The denim pinafore is so cute! I’m going to try and pop by their shop to have a look in person.

San-X are my favourite Japanese kawaii brand and they’ve just released a new character! Corocorocoronya is a small cat who lives on a street corner and sometimes hides inside a bread coronet. His friends include a grey cat with a smartphone and some kind of cream ghost. So far so San-X!

As always, there’s a slightly odd, but adorable, video to introduce everyone.

There are lots of cute products for the character launch including some amazing plushies with removable bread. You’ll also find stationery, accessories and more.

Everything is available now from the San-X shop if you’re in Japan, or you can use a shopping service to order internationally. Some items are available from Amazon Japan too, though not many are eligible for Amazon Global yet so keep an eye on it.

One of our readers asked for a Gudetama post and I was happy to make one. This lazy egg is not only one of my favourite characters, he is also great to make character bento with. How about preparing a special Gudetama lunch or picnic?

The Hello Kitty blog shows how to make Gudetama out of mashed potato and egg – so cute!

The first recipe has been made by Little Miss Bento, who is quite fond of Gudetama. You can find several other recipes and lunch ideas on her website, such as this Gudetama Burger Bento.

Another fan of Gudetama is Ling Ming Lee, she uses him in several of her bento creations. I think this Pumpkin Custard Bun looks very cute!

Lydz came up with a Gudetama cookie recipe that looks easy enough to make. She used icing and outlined the details with an edible marker.

I believe that Eimear was one of the first persons to come up with Gudetama recipes. I’d love to try her cute Gudetama Apricot Pudding Recipe.

You can basically turn every boiled egg or omelette into Gudetama with cutout nori (dried seaweed) pieces. You might even pick up some ideas by looking at the cute dishes served at the Japanese Gudetama Cafe, like the pancake dish pictured above.

Recently my boyfriend gifted me with the Hello Kitty plush from the new Sanrio x Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration. Two of my childhood favorites in one! I grew up loving Hello Kitty and playing Sonic the Hedgehog and when I saw this new mashup I was super stoked!

The plushie is super soft, well made and perfect to display or cuddle. I love the bow detail and how it matches Sonic’s shoes. This would make a great gift for those into retro gaming!

Besides Sonic Kitty other Sanrio and Sonic characters have been mashed together in plush and figure form. Chococat Tails, My Melody Amy and Badtz-Maru Knuckles capture both iconic characters brands flawlessly and are super cute!  Find them all on Amazon and Hot Topic.

We’ve had a few Hello Kitty posts recently but I have to add one more as the new collection at Paperchase is too cute to miss.

Hot Topic and Build a Bear have teamed up for a cute collaboration called Furry and Fierce. The line is divided between the two stores and includes plushies and clothing for both you and the bear you can build in store.

The bear has pink hair, fun tattoos and matching body jewelry and is ready to be made and taken home at Build a Bear stores. I have done this process before – it takes about 30 minutes and is fun.

The plush has lots of cute clothing that you can also buy in your size at Hot Topic. From dresses wth bear and bones print to 90s style grunge chic flannel.

If you can’t make it to a Build a Bear store to create your own bear, Hot Topic also sell a smaller readymade plush who is super cuddly. Both stores tend to sell out fast so get these items soon before they’re all gone.

The Sanrio Originals items are just that little bit more kawaii than normal licensed goods. Look at these adorable My Melody and Little Twin Stars bags and pass cases!

Pompompurin is my favourite Sanrio character so I really love this t-shirt. There’s one for each of the main characters, plus matching skirts too!

You really need to click through and see all the details in this gorgeous My Melody Lolita dress. It may be pricey at £99.99 but you get a lot for your money.

Those of us on a budget can still pick up some cuteness – these socks are only £5 a pair.

These Pyoconoru plushies are super fun as they hang off the edge and stack for great photos. There’s lots of characters to choose from too.

Sanrio’s cute characters have been very busy this month so here’s a round-up of what’s new.

Cat Plush

It’s supposed to be the year of the dog but the Sanrio characters are all dressed up as cats for these new plush, available at US Sanrio stores or online. I think the kitten sized ones are the cutest, especially Gudetama and Pompompurin.

Hello Kitty Basket Catch

If you need a new game, Hello Kitty Basket Catch looks fun and very kawaii. It’s a simple coin catching game but with round Pochadama version of your favourite Sanrio characters. Free to download for both iPhone and Android.

Sanrio x Tokyo Pixel

The Tokyo Pixel shop is high on my list for my next Japan trip but you don’t have to go to Japan to get your hands on their Sanrio collaboration. JapanLA have pixel charms online now but the amazingly-cute stationery is only in their Los Angeles store at the moment so email to place an order.

Small Gift Crate

The new edition of Sanrio’s Small Gift Crate subscription box is now available to order. The theme is Naturally Cute and will have a sweet springtime style. These boxes are really good value with all-exclusive items so well worth signing up if you’re a Sanrio fan.

Gudetama 5th Anniversary

And finally – can you believe it? – Gudetama is celebrating his 5th anniversary! He’s heading into space and taking over the whole universe so watch the anniversary movie, check out the special website and wait for the new products to be revealed.

It’s been a couple of years since we did a round up of kawaii wallpapers so here’s some of the cutest ones.

Let’s start with my own current phone wallpaper with Sumikko Gurashi! It’s so cute and perfect for wintertime. This is an edited version I made so that you can still read the time on an iPhone – get it full size. I’ve also done four of the previous wallpapers if you want something different.

San-X also have a page full of free desktop wallpapers featuring Sumikko Gurashi, Rilakkuma, Corocorocoronya, Jinbe San, Mamegoma and more. Some of the links are to mobile versions but there’s no real guide.

Molang’s social media team have been doing a great job interacting with international fans. They recently uploaded these super cute Molang and Piu Piu wallpapers for mobile and desktop.

These fan-made Gudetama mobile wallpapers are perfect if you need some demotivation. There’s 6 designs to choose from.

Illustrator Cappippuni is creating cute free calendar wallpapers for every month this year. January’s features a cute snowy scene and look out for February soon. There’s also a few animal wallpapers, if you don’t want a calendar.

For such a lazy cat, Pusheen is very busy these days! Here’s some of the newest products and collaborations you might have missed.

UK & EU fans need to head to your nearest Primark and check out the new and exclusive Meowmaid (or is it Purrmaid?) collection. I wish they had an online store as I couldn’t find half this stuff in Glasgow and I need that cushion! Prices are very affordable and the range includes bedding, pyjamas, t-shirts, water bottle and more.

I love the surprise plush and may have screamed a bit when I saw the latest edition. Series 6 is Magical Kitties and I think this might be the best one yet. I honestly can’t pick a favourite – they’re all amazing. They’re available from Hey Chickadee now and will be available from all the usual retailers soon.

You might spot a new kitty in those surprise boxes. Pusheen’s little brother Pip has officially joined the gang and you can now buy him as a very fluffy plush toy too. Look at that silky tail!

If you can’t afford the Super Pusheenicorn, these mini Pusheenicorns are much more affordable at just under $15. They come in three pastel colours and make magical music when you squeeze them.

It’s almost time for another Pusheen Box! Signups are open for the Spring box which will ship in mid-April. Since we’ve caught up with Sanrio and Pusheen, now it’s time for the San-X characters.

Rilakkuma is celebrating his 15th anniversary (!) with quite a few fun collaborations and a new Strawberry Party collection. There’s the usual adorable video and free wallpapers.

The products are all super sweet too, especially this incredible plush toy recipe set! There’s also bags, purses, small plush and a lot of cute stationery that I have my eye on. This is all released next month so if you need something, read our guide to ordering with Tenso and be ready for release day.

Corocorocoronya are quickly becoming some of my favourite San-X characters and they have some really cute new products coming soon with an ice cream theme. I’m mostly mesmerised by all the Instagram posts from their pop-up cafe at Tower Records in Tokyo. It just ended yesterday but we can still enjoy looking at all the kawaii food.

Sumikko Gurashi went back to school recently for a new collection about studying. My absolute favourite product is this plushie book that opens up into a pillow so you can rest your head on the pages! There’s also a similar pouch.

We never really feature Sentimental Circus on SCK but the new Sleeping Forest collection is very cute with a pastel watercolour feel. There’s lots of sweet plush, stationery and bags including this pouch set.

And if you’ve got a spare £200, you could do a lot worse than spend it on a giant Kokujira plush! Kokujira is a very round baby whale friend of Jinbe San and it looks so huggable.

Noodoll have finally added all their new plushies and it was totally worth the wait!

My favourites are the bunny and bear mermaids, Ricebombshell and Ricesplash. They’re so cute and I love the pastel colours.

Having said that, I think my first purchase will have to be another friend from Ricetown Market to hang out with my pear and carrot. Ricebeet is just hilarious and I love the garlic too.

Some older characters have been given the luxe treatment with extra fluffy fur. How soft does Riceberg look?

If you’ve got any new babies to buy for, there are some very sweet mobiles and blankets available. I would quite happily use one of these as a rug too.

I am from California and love the diversity of my state. So, when tokidoki released their California Dreamin’ collection I was happy to see things that make me think of home within the illustrations. A few of my favorite pieces from the collection are below.
